On our first full day at Kaeppeli's Bed and Breakfast on the Coromandel Peninsula we had a wonderful breakfast and set out to explore the east coast of the peninsula. We first drove to the Hot Water Beach where we enjoyed our self-made spa and then shopped around an art gallery near the beach. We then headed to Hahei Beach and Cathedral Cove and hiked to the cove. We stopped for dinner at the Squid's Bar and Restaurant in Whitianga on Mercury Bay on the way back to Kaeppeli's B&B.

Arriving at Hot Water Beach.

You have to dig your own hot water spa letting the sea water flow into the hole and the volcanic thermals to percolate up through the sand.

Ahh! Nice warm water.

It was a little chilly on this day but we were comfortable in our spa.
